The original

Aquaspin Pure

Our signature class. 45 minutes of cycling to music in a heated pool. Easy on your joints, honest work for your legs and lungs. Everyone sets their own resistance, so beginners and regulars ride side by side.

Who it's for

Anyone. First timers, regulars, returners, and people who haven't exercised in years. If you can sit on a bike, you can do Pure.

What a session feels like

You ride along to the music while the instructor calls the pace. The water does something clever: it pushes back exactly as hard as you push it. Take it gently and it's a warm, supported ride. Push hard and it bites. Either way you climb out loose, warm and pretty pleased with yourself.

Why it works

  • Low impact, because the water carries your body weight and protects your knees, hips and ankles
  • High resistance, because water is about 800 times denser than air
  • Cardio and toning in one session, without the aches you get from land classes
  • You control the intensity, so nobody is left behind and nobody is held back

Common questions about this class

Do I need to be able to swim?

No. The bikes stand on the pool floor in chest deep water and your head stays above the surface the whole time. Plenty of our regulars aren't swimmers.

I'm really unfit. Will I keep up?

Yes, because there's nothing to keep up with. You control your own resistance and pace, so you work at your level while the person next to you works at theirs. Nobody can see how fast your legs are going anyway. It's all underwater.

What do I wear and bring?

We want you to feel comfortable, so wear whatever you like: a swimming costume or trunks, a rash vest, a t shirt (not too baggy, as it will get wet) or shorts. You'll also need water shoes for grip on the pedals. We can provide these, or you might prefer to buy your own. Bring a towel and a bottle of water, and we'll sort the rest.

What happens at my first class?

Arrive ten minutes early and we'll set your bike up for your height, show you the basic positions, and get you comfortable before the music starts. Every class has beginners in it, so you won't stand out.
